Preparations. Many many preparations.
I am off to London with a friend to see the new Dead Space 2 game, and to meet some of the people behind it. I am currently swatting up on the game, and thinking up questions to ask the people we meet. This is a great achievement for DeathByRobots, as we haven’t even been open a week. Very exciting.
We are also connecting with various PR companies and other lovely people, so I am very proud of where we have got to already.
The site is also preparing for it’s first competition. It will be on our Twitter account for the site, and should be something fun from our merch stash!
Why is black coffee disgusting, but black tea is fine? At the end of the day, how does a tiny splash of milk really make all the difference? It baffles me.
Juice Box

I feel sick. Help me. I just tried to drink a black coffee, and it was disgusting. I don’t even like regular coffee that much.
Why would I drink it then you might ask…
It might be because I have been working ridiculously hard on the new site. I have emailed so many people, edited so many features, prepared so many graphics, and now I have to work out some questions to ask the Dead Space 2 guys for an event on Friday. After that I will need to write it up. After that I will have to swat up on everything to do with my interview on Tuesday, in the hope of getting somewhere in this world that doesn’t include sitting in my house every day.
Don’t get me wrong, I love doing the site already, and I love the contacts I’ve made and the people it has already attracted, but starting a website is hard. Hopefully it will calm down after a while and will become easier.
Because I didn’t manage to drink my coffee, and since I have no milk to make it any easier to drink, I am tired.
We are watching Pulp Fiction. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen the whole film, but all in different sections. Never all at once, so this is new to me. I usually end up turning the film on when the big black guy gets raped in the butt.

I thought I would use an old photo today, partly to reminisce because I miss my pink hair desperately, and partly because I look a state today. I have been inundated with things to do for the new site, Death By Robots; people to email, things to write, games to play and review. Phew.
Check out the site, yo.

Secret things have been made today, and they will be revealed tomorrow. Far too busy, will explain…

Mildly wonky nose ring.
My ilomilo review went up yesterday. You can find it with this link, but here’s an excerpt:
Title: ilomilo
Release Date: January 5th 2011
Developer / Publisher: Southend Interactive/Microsoft
Genre: Puzzle, XBLAFor anyone who is yet to play ilomilo on the Xbox Live Arcade, you may still be unaware of how to love.
Through trial and tribulation, Ilona and Milton (aka ilo and milo) loose contact with each other and must be together again or the whole world will fall apart. Ok, it might not be THAT dramatic, but this puzzle game sure does have an underlying plot of sadness and silliness. The two characters live across the park from each other, meet up during the day, and leave each other to go home in the evenings. Events occur where they can no longer find each other, and so the story continues.
I have also been crocheting ilomilo figures, which I am yet to finish, but will post pictures soon!
Due to my imminent job interview, I have been researching, and will be making notes to take with me. Getting about 5% more scared every passing day.

P.S Yesterday’s post title was of course ‘Hard Target’, which is all about hunting human prey. I thought it was quite fitting for the post’s theme.

I just made myself some roast potatoes and roast parsnips for dinner, so I am now a happy bunny.
The boyfriend had the day off, so we did a bit of shopping, sat around, watched Bruce Parry’s Arctic episode from last Sunday, which was amazing, and now he is playing Gears of War 2 online with some of the Xboxer360 team. They seem to be having fun, chatting away about the hot bums that featured on Mass Effect 2, funny names they can name one of their yet to be born daughters, and smashing shit up. Can’t say I am really a Gears fan, and I just missed the bandwagon, but I am looking forward to seeing what the new game this year will have to offer.
As for Bruce Parry, I am still very much in love with the man, and immensely jealous of his travels. This weeks episode was based in the north of Greenland, with the Inuit hunters trying to find their catch. It is a real shame that they now have restrictions on the amount they can catch and kill due to animal rights activists causing a fuss. I am the first person to be on the side of the animal, but hunting is their lifestyle, and often their only way to survive. The people need the furs to keep warm, the meat to eat and sell… and they are being cut off from their livelihood because although these activists are trying to do right by the animals, they are not accustomed to their way of living, and need these things to happen to survive. It is always a huge shame to see an adult polar bear killed, but none of it will go to waste. The fur will be made into clothing, the meat eaten, and the rest fed to the dogs who drive their only means of transport. They do not kill to excess; they only kill what they need, and they are not trying to kill off a species in the process. Because of these restrictions the old hunting ways are being abandoned, as the people just can’t live well enough. Some of the statistics Parry bought to light were startling; Greenland used to have one of the lowest suicide rates in the whole world, and now the country has one of the highest. This is due to people loosing their livelihoods, their faith in the world, and the competition for jobs other than hunting. Not only this, but the men that do still hunt under the restrictions are finding it increasingly harder to predict when the best times to hunt are, due to climate change. The ice is melting further and more rapidly each year, so their usual routines are having to be altered. Obviously times change, and people have to adapt, but I do feel terrible for them when it is the more modern societies that are to blame for most of their problems.
I could go on forever about issues like this, but I get far too angry. I am somewhat knowledgeable of how furs used to be, and are still traded, and who uses them to survive instead of for fashion needs as I did my final year dissertation on the topic at university, so I don’t want to write another 10,000 words here. To sum up my beliefs on the matter; indigenous people from cold climates (or tribes in the middle of nowhere), who have always worn fur to survive, have a decent reason to wear fur. Anyone else, who wear them because they simply like the look, feel, or ‘sophistication’ that comes with fur do not deserve any respect at all. In this day and age especially there are far better materials to keep you warm, and even fake furs if you really can’t live without fluff. The people that make me laugh the most are those who wear fur with pride, but own pets like a cat or dog, and accept them as one of the family. They probably wouldn’t, however, wear the skin of a human, right… so why wear something related to that which they call a loved one?
Thinking about it now, if I re-wrote my dissertation with the writing knowledge I have practiced, I would come out of my degree with a far better mark. It’s a shame I enjoy writing now, and not as much then.
Your comments are more than welcome on this topic if you have an opinion you wish to share.

This post did not get written during the day as planned. I suck at this.
My other half has started a new band, and a few of the members came over this evening for a jam, and some Rock Band sessions. It was very noisy and probably annoyed the neighbours, but its not often we have musicians over so I’m sure once in a while is fine.
I’m running out of time…

Today has been a good one for me. Finally have a job interview. I need everyone who reads this to cross their fingers, toes, arms, legs, cat’s arms etc for me in the hope that I will finally do something reasonably decent with my life. Not sure when the interview is, but I will know soon, and I am already scared but excited. It is also quite far from my home, which could mean some sort of upheaval, but that’s the price you have to pay. Even if I don’t get the job, I’m ecstatic that I’ve even been offered an interview. Watch this space etc.
Turns out my sister isn’t visiting tomorrow now. I’m a bit bummed about it but what can you do ey? Gives me more time to focus on my writing and applying for more jobs, incase the above job doesn’t work out even after all the limb-crossing.
I keep writing way too late at the moment. Tomorrow’s post will hopefully write itself sometime mid-afternoon. It will be longer!

P.S. Yesterday’s post title was a weird one. Obviously the items I mentioned were shiny, so that was the word of the day. Today’s theme is quite straight forward I would think.
